Carlson commenced working in the field of construction in 1984 with Bell Basic Industries at Bellmix Asphalt. After his initiation to this industry as a road construction worker, he progressed to materials testing working in the Bellmix Asphalt Laboratory, then Bellcrete Laboratories, Bell Quarry laboratories until Bell Bros was bought out by Boral in 1989.
He commenced with BGC in 1992 at BGC Concrete and then was transferred to BGC Asphalt to assist with building BGC’s first Asphalt Plant from the ground up as well as planning and construction of the NATA accredited Asphalt laboratory. He remained with BGC for 12 years working primarily as Technical Production Manager for BGC Asphalt and Quarries until 2003 at which stage, he was seconded to BGC Contracting to assist with the establishment and management Term Net Contract 1 and 2 in the Pilbara and Kimberley until 2005. Returning from the Northwest, he commenced work with Boral as Regional Quarries Manager, managing Boral’s regional quarries in WA until 2010, at which stage he accepted the role of State Operations Manager for ROCLA Quarries until 2015.
In 2017 Carlson was approached by BGC to return and oversee the Technical Management of BGC Asphalt and Quarries to prepare for the impending NL 2 and 3 Road projects which BGC had won. These projects were delivered to MRWA proficiently with over 600,000t of Asphalt being laid and over 400,000t of quarried materials being supplied to the highest quality with minimal defect over 2.5 years. In 2019 Carlson accepted the role of General Manager for BGC Asphalt and Quarries, until being requested to oversee the development, establishment, and management of the Materials Technology Centre in 2021.
Carlson has ensured that the Materials Technology Centre is equipped state-of-the-art instruments and developed a team of exceptional and dedicated technicians to support our clients in all their analytical needs.
Karl joined MTC in August 2021 as the Asphalt team leader, his extensive knowledge, ability to lead, motivate and engage his team whilst maintaining strong relationships with clients quickly gained him a promotion to Technical Operations supervisor. Karl is a highly qualified and a very experienced Laboratory Supervisor having completed his Bachelor of Forensic Science honours in 2004.
As head of Finance, Yizhen has a strong focus on providing cost effective initiatives. he strives to educate and guide his team to adopt innovative strategies that benefit the financial year ahead. Yizhen became an internationally recognised Certified public accountant in 2021. Yizhen has a history of accurately and efficiently supporting all accounting activities.
Dang joined us in 2012 following his graduation from TAFE with a Cert IV Laboratory Techniques as a Laboratory technician. He previously worked in a mining laboratory where he performed testing and analysis services. Over the years he proved to be a dedicated, astute, and hardworking Technician and was promoted to chemical Lab team leader.
Khushboo Joined MTC in October 2022 coming from Midland brick, she has extensive experience working in laboratories within Australia as a Laboratory Technician and Team Leader, using a wide range of analytical instruments and techniques. Khushboo has a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Biotechnology and has extensive experience in wet and physical chemistry. Khushboo’s strong focus on compliance and innovation has allowed for the ongoing advancement of quality control standards within the business.
Gordan has worked in a testing laboratory for 13 years after completing his diploma of Technology Laboratory. Starting off a Laboratory Technician he quickly Worked his way up to laboratory Team leader. Gordan Joined MTC In August 2022 coming form Fulton Hogan where he was the foreman responsible for the day to day running of the laboratory. He has extensive knowledge of AS2891, WA700 Series and quality systems as well as Aggregate testing techniques related to the industry.
With over 25 years of experience under his belt, Chris is a key contributor to the service MTC provides our clientele. He has worked as the field Technician Team leader for the past 15 years. Chris has extensive knowledge of AS1012, using a wide range of analytical instruments and techniques. Chris has a certificate IV in business management which he uses to help our clientele understand and act on their results. Chris has a strong focus on compliance and conforming to the nata scope of accreditation.
Thane joined us in 2013 as a field technician. He has recently taken on the role of Field Scheduler, liaising with clients and other industry experts to offer specialised concrete testing services. Thane has extensive knowledge of AS1012 and prides himself in providing efficient, accurate and reliable services. Thane delivers strong leadership and project management skills and keeps the communication and collaboration between staff and clients running smoothly.
